Welcome to Littlesea Lops, we live in Weymouth, Dorset, England. We're a hobbyist breeder of Mini Lop, Lion Lop and Lion Head rabbits.

In Mini Lops we breed Sealpoint.

In Lion Lop our new venture for 2012 is Blue Butterfly, Chocolate & Lilac Butterfly.

In  Lionheads we are concentrating on  Chocolate Dutch Marked, which is a very hard colour to come by. We have already had some great results producing a Chocolate Dutch Marked with blue eyes. We now have our breeding programme in place to produce Lilac Dutch Marked and Blue Dutch Marked.  2012 will be a very exciting year for Littlesea Lops.  Other colours we have been concentrating on are Chocolate, Lilac & Blue.  In 2012 we are hoping to have some broken Chocolates and Lilacs.

All of our rabbits are cared for and treated very well and they are happy and healthy and live in a dry,  clean spacious environment and have daily excercise in the outside run or indoors in the log cabin if the weather is bad, and fed on a top quality rabbit feed with plenty of hay or readigrass, and have water available at all times.

We breed rabbits purely for the love of it to improve our own lines, It has been a passion of ours for years. . There is nothing more rewarding than mating a doe then 31 days later, seeing a perfectly built nest wriggling with tiny healthy baby rabbits in, and watching the doe be a perfect mum to them.  It is so exciting seeing what colour Kits have been produced. Unfortunately we can't keep them all, even though we would like to, occasionally we have babies available.

The babies reared here at Littlesea Lops have heat lamps on them for the first ten to fourteen days until their eyes are open. This saves any heartache from them possibly straying out of the nest and getting cold during the night. Even without their eyes open they always end up as close as they can to the heat lamps.

Keeping rabbits is a fabulous hobby - enormously rewarding and enjoyable. There is nothing like friendly twitches of the nose to remind you that rabbits make fantastic pets. As Britain’s third favourite pet you won’t be alone and there are hundreds of rabbit shows throughout the country where you see other rabbits, ask questions or even compete yourself.

I admit that I am biased but I think owning a rabbit is a hugely rewarding pastime. They are intelligent, friendly and make great companions to both young and old. However they do require a level of daily commitment so please consider the following:

Rabbits can live for between 5 and 10 years (depending on the size or breed)

Like all animals, a rabbit will make demands upon your time.

Rabbits need daily food and fresh water, grooming and company.

The hutch and pen will need regular cleaning (in all weathers).

There will be costs associated with equipment and then ongoing feed, bedding and vet bills (Yearly vaccinations).

Like us, they can become grumpy or irritable if they are uncomfortable or unhappy.

You will need someone to look after the rabbit when you go on holiday.

All rabbits come with a care sheet and a weeks’ supply of food and we will give as much advice as possible with the aftercare of them.  We will not let a baby rabbit go under the age of 8 weeks and even then if they are extra small we will normally keep them till they are 10 weeks old, and we are happy that they are fully weaned and eating and drinking well, we make sure our rabbits go to caring, loving homes, and are going to be treated well.  If any advice is needed afterwards we're only a phone call away.

Any money made from the sale of my rabbits goes into the rabbit fund to pay for their food, hay, bedding, toys etc.

Hope you enjoy looking round our website please contact us if you require any further information.
